Our Common Home
An entry poem in support of the campaign calling Philippine Banks and Church institutions to divest from environmentally destructive industries such as coal-fired powerplant

The world now became more complicated,
That we cannot already see the results but always our investment.
And sometimes, we could just sit in the corner and ask ourselves,
“are we still prioritizing our sustainability and the works of our environment?”
The transition of our world years ago up to now had surprised almost every one of us,
The economy has expanded even more that we have so many choices to give our trust,
Not knowing that these transitions will lead us to severe results:
The destruction of ecosystems, climate change, and other world-related issues.
Humans are dependent on nature as nature provides multiple resources,
But isn’t it unfair that we tend to consume as if nature does not get tired and are releasing unlimited finances?
Several to hundreds and millions of human activities are causing environmental degradation:
The depletion of our natural resources such as air, water, and soil is the result of causing nature’s deterioration.
The destruction of wildlife’s habitat and their extinction,
Added the nonstop actions of humans contributing to pollution.
Can’t we see how severe our planet now is?
The fact that we are busy developing ourselves, not knowing how nature suffers and how we contribute to the ecological crisis.
But of course, in every failure and loss of light and hope,
There will always be the way to our home.
And this is what Laudato si as a way of life wants us to know,
That carries its encyclical subtitle from Pope Francis, “on care for our common home.”
This calls the people of the world to the awakening of their mind to take “swift and unified global action.”
To create a sustainable future for everyone, to invest in real sustainability,
To care for the future as well as to take an action.
These are only some of the missions of the Living Laudato si.
This may be our only chance for a better and sustainable future.
Let us take an action and a step to cure,
Let us all take part in the healing of our world – to have a safer and better place for our future.
